She said: “This decision will turn the woes into a triumph for most businesses and households who have expressed the need for some form of relief from the municipality.”
Speaking on the amnesty for households violating Article 28 of KDM’s electricity regulations, the governor said: “The Council is introducing a temporary amnesty for residents whose services do not comply with the article 28 of the electricity regulation by altering the service. connections or mains power.
“The relief will help consumers come forward and rectify their service connections. It will also help the municipality reduce energy loss, increase revenue and reduce operating costs due to equipment failures caused by overloading the electrical infrastructure.
“The amnesty will only apply to residential customers on prepaid and conventional single-phase / three-phase billing. Businesses and customers with maximum demand will be excluded, ”said Govender.
To participate in the program, debtors must complete a Covid-19 Debt Relief Program Application Form.

The completed and signed application form should be returned to the finance office.
To participate in the compensation amnesty for voluntary disclosure of connections to the electricity service in contravention of article 28 of the electricity regulation – tampering / illegal / non-compliant with the connection to the electricity service or to the electricity network food, participants must make voluntary disclosures to the Ward Councilors office, as well as the KwaDukuza and Ballito finance offices by October 29.
